
Visiting Scholarships
ÌÀÍ·ÌõÔ´´ welcomes academics from other universities and research institutions as Visiting Scholars. Visiting Scholarships can last between one term and one academic year.
Visiting Scholarships are ideally suited to academics who:
- are on sabbatical leave from permanent positions in universities or other research institutions
- intend to conduct research in the University of Cambridge, or a recognised research establishment in Cambridge, particularly in collaboration with a Fellow from ÌÀÍ·ÌõÔ´´.
Benefits
Visiting Scholars enjoy generous dining privileges at High Table, free of charge, during their Scholarships. Here, they have the opportunity to engage with a community of Fellows, post-doctoral researchers and postgraduate students across a range of academic disciplines. Visiting Scholarships are non-stipendiary.
We are not able to offer accommodation for Visiting Scholars but they can contact the , which has many suitable short-term lets available.
The College does not provide research space or research facilities for Visiting Scholars, and is not responsible for securing access to those facilities in University Departments or Faculties.
Applications
To apply for a Visiting Scholarship, please email president@jesus.cam.ac.uk with:
- a CV
- a short statement on your proposed research programme while in Cambridge.
- the name of a Fellow or Emeritus Fellow of ÌÀÍ·ÌõÔ´´ who has agreed to vouch for you and act as your mentor during your stay.
At the time of your application, you should have established, or be establishing, contact with the relevant Faculty or Department with a view to receiving formal visiting status there.
The Visiting Scholarship Committee will consider applications before the College Council makes a formal decision. Please note that the College Council does not meet between July and October, so any applications received after the end of May are unlikely to receive a decision before the following October.
