Old Library

Our historic Old Library holds聽rare books and manuscripts, as well as the Jesuan Collection of writings by members of the College.

Until 1912 the College library was housed on the second floor of the west range of Cloister Court in the room now known as the Old Library. This small historic library still contains around聽9,000 books, in handsome oak bookcases dating from聽1662.

The Old Library is mainly a resource for聽research relating to its holdings. The Quincentenary Library is the聽College's working library,聽used by most academic staff聽and students.聽

Historical records from the time聽the College was founded, and even of聽the priory聽preceding it,聽are kept in the College Archives.
