Join the Legacy of Slavery Working Party as historian Catherine Hall explores the profound mark that Caribbean plantation slavery left on Britain.

In this talk, Professor Hall will focus on the entangled histories of England and Jamaica. She will discuss both the wealth produced by the enslaved for the metropole and the ideas, rooted in plantation life, about racial difference and inequality.

About the speaker

Catherine Hall is Emerita Professor of History and Chair of the Centre for the Study of the Legacies of British Slavery at UCL, London. She led UCL’s groundbreaking ‘Legacies of British Slave-Ownership’ study and the setting up of the Legacies of British Slavery online Database.
